Light

It glistened in the grass
As the sun reflected through
I couldn’t see what caused it
But it certainly wasn’t dew.

I left the window then returned
And as I stood just so,
The light reflected brightly,
Since it gave off such a glow.

“What can it be?” I pondered
As my eyes remained affixed.
A diamond maybe, or just plain glass
My thoughts were definitely mixed.

Well now my curiosity
Got the better of me that day.
I headed out the patio door
Just to see what caused that ray.

Across the lawn I went to see
What mystery was so bright
The closer I got the more it shone
With the fullness of the light.

Oh my, it’s just amazing
How God’s light shines through rain
And makes a bow of color
His love comes through again.

Well I got sidetracked didn’t I
You’re wondering what I found.
I began to chuckle
When I picked it off the ground.

It is amazing how God’s light
Can shine so bright and plain
Through diamonds and through sapphires,
And oh yeah, cellophane.
