The Intercessors

The intercessors gathered to pray,
Against strongholds they came that day,
Foundations shook and mountains trembled,
As this small group that had assembled,
Humbled themselves before the Lord
And began to pray upon His Word.

“Oh God, forgive us of our sins,
For evil thoughts that enter in
Oh take away our hearts of stone
And make them flesh, your blood atone
And by your grace and mercy come
Oh Lord forgive the things we’ve done.

Oh, please, Dear Lord show us your will
May our minds be open for you to fill
With your words, your thoughts, your plan,
And Lord, please help us understand
The things that hinder and entangle us so
Oh Father, let your Spirit flow.”

The sound of prayer then filled the place,
And on each weary warrior’s face
Was a look of confidence,
As gaps they filled and did commence
To intercede:

“PULL DOWN THE WALLS OF PREJUDICE
PULL DOWN THE WALLS OF HATE AND PRIDE
THROUGH THE POWER OF YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS
PULL DOWN THE WALLS, OH LORD DO RIDE
THROUGH STRONGHOLDS HELD BY DARKNESS’ MIGHT
PULL DOWN THE WALLS AND BRING THE LIGHT!

Then the Holy Spirit fell
With power and might no words can tell
What was uttered left and uttered right
But the Lord’s army commenced to fight
For freedom from the chains that bound
So many people in this town,
So many people all around.

“DRAW US TO YOU LORD WE PRAY
FIGHT FOR THEM AS WELL TODAY!
PULL DOWN THE WALLS OF PREJUDICE
PULL DOWN THE WALLS OF HATE AND PRIDE
THROUGH THE POWER OF YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS
PULL DOWN THE WALLS, OH LORD DO RIDE
THROUGH STRONGHOLDS HELD BY DARKNESS’ MIGHT
PULL DOWN THE WALLS AND BRING THE LIGHT!
